Bachelor Beast

What a ride hahaha! Definitely of the insta-lust variety, there's a greater focus on the sudden bond than the backstory, but still enough to keep you engaged and interested in the characters. This is my first Grace Goodwin book I think? Held up well as a standalone, but had a sense you'd get more out of it if you'd read the series in order. Still, satisfying enough ending. Docked a star for length and the odd editing/grammar error, but honestly didn't detract much. Dual POV, little suspense, steamy scenes, and HEA.

Warlord Wulf is an Atlan that has been altered by The Hive so he cannot go back to his home planet. Instead he resides on a planet named The Colony, which is a collection of wounded warriors from all over the universe. To bring more brides to The Colony to marry the warriors and lift moral, Wulf is chosen to star on the Earth reality show “Bachelor Beast.” He has wined, dined, and whittled the choice down to two lovely Earth ladies. However, there is one problem, Wulf’s inner beast does not want either of the contestants. And there is another problem, if Wulf is not mated soon, not only has he failed his fellow warriors on The Colony, but life will end. In steps, literally, Olivia Mercier, the reality show’s makeup artist. She has always wanted to be an intergalactic bride, but due to her two kids, she is not a candidate. Her stumbling steps end up setting off a chain of events that lead to humor, steamy encounters, touching moments, a few tears, and a lot of Alpha maleness! This is the first novel I have read by Grace Godwin and it is the first novel in this series that I have read. You do not need to read the other novels in the series to follow this storyline. I absolutely loved this story. It was right amounts of steamy encounters, laughter, and touching moments. I do not want to give away any spoilers, but Wulf is the most endearing and loving Alpha that I have ever read. I simply love him. Olivia is a peach as well. She is parts realism, fantasy, and Mama Bear. Although Olivia initially was down on herself because of her physical appearance, she was able to let that go and let Wulf love her like she needed to be loved. And those two kids are so sweet. There were a lot of teary moments with Wulf and the kids. I am going to save this ARC edition to read at another time. It was a super awesome read. Warlord Wulf is sent to Earth to represent The Colony as he is entered into a TV reality show similar to The Bachelor. This will give focus to The Colony’s inhabitants as possibilities for the Interstellar Brides Program and encourage more volunteer brides. Wulf will be forced to date 20+ women, totally unnecessary for his annoyed Beast to find a mate! He knows right away none of these women are for him. Without finding his mate, Wulf will have to return to Atlan for execution due to the dangerous mating fever that will result. But on the final day of filming, he actually scents his mate! The ratings must have exploded when the Beast’s body transforms on live television and he growls out ‘MINE!’ Everything does not go smoothly, however. Olivia does not believe she is eligible to even be a mate. And she has some major stumbling blocks as the sole provider for her dead brother's children, as well as a situation her brother created with a drug lord. Among all the chaos, can Wulf convince Olivia they are truly mates, especially as he readily steps up and accepts Olivia’s niece and nephew as his own to protect? Will she and the children be willing to establish their family on The Colony? Again and again, this author gives us the very best stories, bringing the reader back to the variety of aliens we are so familiar with (and the Colony is one of my favorites)! The story line is fast-paced and exciting, as a time-clock ticks off the Atlan’s fate if he can’t find his mate before the rage-induced fever sets in. And once he finds her, he still has to convince her they are right for each other! Grab your copy and immerse yourself in a fantastic experience you won’t want to miss!
